 Bulgarian cellist Dessislava Nenova has won many awards in Europe and North America including The National Competition for Young Artists “Svetoslav Obretenov” in Provadia, Bulgaria, and the MTNA String Competition, Collegiate Division in Los Angeles, California. She has appeared frequently as a soloist with ensembles such as the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra, the University of Central Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, the Michigan State University Wind Symphony, Michigan State University Women’s Chamber Ensemble, mirabai and common pulse - professional vocal ensembles. Dessislava has concertized widely throughout Europe, Canada, the United States, and Puerto Rico, and has recorded for Horizons Productions, GBP Studios, Harvest Music Sound and Design, Blue Griffin Recording, INC, Chicago Recording Company, and Uptown Recording. She can be heard performing on National Public Radio with the Grammy Award-winning MSU Children’s Choir and mirabai


Dessislava Nenova holds a Master of Musical Arts and a Doctor of Musical Arts in cello performance from Michigan State University where she studied under and was assistant to the Armenian cellist and Tchaikovsky Competition Silver medalist, Suren Bagratuni. Other influential teachers include Felice Magendanz Farrell and Arie Lipsky (Chautauqua Institution). Dessislava has participated in master classes with Colin Carr (Chautauqua Institution), Denis Brott (Chautauqua Institution), and played numerous times for the world-renowned pedagogue Janos Starker.
